A peach past its prime. Not yet moldy, but showing its age.

Shot in the lightbox on a very dark brown table.

We went out for lunch today to celebrate the career of Alan our teammate who is retiring in just a few short days. I think you know who this guy is... It's Jeremy! You can see a nice group photo in his daily photo. If you didn't catch from earlier dailies, we are coworkers.

It was much darker in the restaurant than I expected. So much so that the AF on the 350D was pretty much unable to cope even while using the 50mm f/1.8. I could have gone to ISO 1600, but the 350D shows a lot of noise at that point.

Just a quick shot.

Living in New England there is always an obvious subject at this time of year...

Taken with a CPL and post processed with the Orton effect.
Oliver Chong > 2008.05.06 - Day 24 :

The texture of the bark on this (birch?) tree is amazing. This evening provided several good photos that actually made it difficult to chose one to post. This one won out.

This is a slightly different take on a photo Jeremy took a while ago.
Oliver Chong > 2009.2.7 - Day ? :

Lowell's Winterfest started this past Thursday. On Saturday afternoon we went with friends to enjoy the festivities which included the finals for the Human Dogsled Championship. Part of the fun is the costumes that the teams wear. Most of them wore matching clothing like the Irish team nearest to me, but some go all out. There is a competition held the day before to judge which team has the best costumes.

It was a bit windy out, but much more comfortable than previous weeks. The reining champions, the Lowell Devils, won again this year.
Oliver Chong > 2008.04.13 - Day 1 :

The first photo in my attempt to take at least one keeper everyday for a year. In this shot I loved the shape of the flowers and how they are nearly identical twins. They also fit in nicely with the season as it only has just started getting warm enough for spring flowers in MA.

*edit* I mistakenly stated this photo was taken on the 14th, but it was actually the 13th. My EXIF is wrong because the camera was still set to Japan Standard Time.
Oliver Chong > 2008.10.18 - Day ? :

I've tried to take this shot previously, but I lacked two things at that time: control over my lighting and a lens that could get close enough.

The rose is one of a dozen I gave Irene on our anniversary earlier this week.

Uncropped, unadjusted, and unedited beyond removing a dust spot.
Oliver Chong > 2008.10.11 - Day ? :

My newest lens addition arrived today - the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro. This is thankfully funded partially as an anniversary gift from Irene and the rest from the sale of my Sigma 70-300 Macro to my brother. Only the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 needed to complete my lineup.

We took a short walk and this is my favorite shot. Uncropped and unedited beyond a bit of sharpening. I wish I had put the CPL on, but I am very happy with the contrast and color the lens captures. I love the brokeh as well.
