Poker during the first evening of a long weekend on the Cape.

The weather today was beautiful, especially in comparison to last weekend. Irene and I took advantage of the warmth to visit the reservoir nearby for a walk. Around the edges where the rock dam exists the ice had started to melt. This shot was taken looking down on the surface of the ice.

Each of theses pieces is a vertical column about 2 inches long. If anyone can explain either why the ice froze as columns (and not as a solid piece of ice) or why the ice is melting in this way, i would love to know.

I've had a headache all weekend and I noticed when looking closely at the acetaminophen pill I noticed that there were a bunch of little holes across the middle. I guess this is what makes them quick release as they start to break apart within 10 seconds of being submerged in liquid.

I wanted this to look a bit unreal and give the feeling that it might be dangerous.

Video games make for great amusement and are certainly not just for children. They also don't corrupt the young any more than the things your parents thought corrupted you at a similar age. More than likely we are all destined to make the corruption statement at some point.

Just a foggy spring morning.

Keeping with the recent theme of lines and curves, I chose to take a macro shot of a leaf from the Calla Lily i photographed on the first day.

I was short on time or I may have tried to focus stack...

We probably have 15 or so different types of flowers in the apartment right now from well wishes for Irene. The last four days I've been attempting to take great close up / macro photos of the flowers. It has definitely turned out to be much more difficult than I thought it would be. While it's not so challenging to get an okay flower photo... capturing one that can hold interest isn't coming so easy at the moment.

This is an uncropped photo of what I think is a Wydler's Dancing-lady orchid bud.

We stopped by Bonsai West today to get some fertilizer and walk around the greenhouses. This I believe is an old Ficus and my favorite picture of the day. I was able to easily get positioned for a nicer perspective.

I've recently been considering picking up a G9 (or G10 if it comes out soon) as I find our current P&S to be inadequate. I also would like to be able to cheaply take a camera underwater and a G9/10 would make that possible. There are rumors that the G10 will shoot HD video and/or use a CMOS sensor. Of course there are what appear to be accidentally leaked specs of the 50D on the Canon CN site... tempting.

Tools of the trade. While I still had Jeremy's camera for a final night, I figured I would take a picture of my gear. This is my Rebel XT (350D) with the 85mm f/1.8 mounted. This shot is set up with the camera in my light box and lit with the flash set left of the subject angled upwards at max power.

*Yes, the date is still wrong on the D70 which took this picture.
